The Tower Companies corporate headquarters is located at 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard. The Tower Companies is the largest Green Builder in the Nation’s Capitol and designed 2000 Tower Oaks to meet the most stingent green building requirements.
VitaTech was retained by the Tower Companies to perform an EMF Assessment, Simulation & Mitigation Study, in order to predict EMF levels at 2000 Tower Oaks when the building is under electrical load and occupied. VitaTech simulated various electrical power sources to determine EMF emissions and decay rates and defined the areas where elevated electromagnetic interference (EMI) could compromise the 2000 Tower Oaks environment.
In 2007 VitaTech designed, fabricated, installed and verified performance of a 6,500 sq. ft. dual-substrate AC ELF magnetic shielding system for the switchgear room, overhead busway and electric room. After-shield testing verified compliance with the 5 mG performance guarantee over 95% of the shielded areas. EMF Shielding contributed towards the Innovative Design LEED credit for 2000 Tower Oaks and this building achieved LEED Platinum-certified for Commercial Interiors in 2009.
