The Brookhaven Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) is a research center for cutting-edge nanoscience studies. The CFN is focused on research addressing our national challenges in energy. VitaTech was retained by HDR to provide comprehensive EMI/RFI engineering services of several EMI sensitive laboratories located within close proximity to the main electrical switchgear room and a complex ground loop surrounding the building site emanating from underground utility feeders.

VitaTech designed, fabricated and installed AC ELF Magnetic Shielding Systems inside the main switchgear room, main conduit riser, behind numerous electrical panels and transformers to minimize the EMF impact in adjacent EMI sensitive research laboratories designated for nanotechnology, electron microscopy, NMRs and other scientific imaging tools ensuring optimum tool performance over the lifetime of the building.

All EMI sensitive laboratories and resarch areas fully complied with the 0.1mG and less Brms (Bx, By, and Bz axes) performance guarantee measured at 1-meter above the floors and two meters from the shielded switchgear room across the hallway from EMI sensitive laboratories.
